Central line associated bacteraemia is a common nosocomial infection with significant morbidity and mortality. However recent performance improvement projects in both Australia and the United States have demonstrated that the introduction of standardised processes can have a significant impact. On June 4 2007 the NSWHealth 'clabicu project' was launched at an orientation workshop for the 36 teams participating. This project is an initiative of ICCMU and Cinical Excellence Commission.
