I am in a dilemma about what to do about feeding patients who require Non-Invasive ventilation. What is common practice?

BiPAP Masks

11/05/04
Hi,
I would like to know what masks others are using for "non-invasive" ventilation currently. Our current batch are hopeless and with winter coming up it would be desirable to get some that work. We would like to get some of the full face masks (which we have trialed), but (because of their cost) to purchase these we need to go through the hospitals "Product Evaluation Committee" (which hasn't met for over 12 months!!.

We are looking at improving our delivery of non-invasive ventilation.

We would like to know what head straps/caps are you using and how successful they are?
Also, are you having success with a particular style or brand of mask?

BiPAP (Bi-Level Positive Air Pressure)

BiPAP (Bi-Level Positive Air Pressure)

A BiPAP machine is a relatively small device that assists with a patient's breathing. It is connected by flexible tubing to a face mask worn by the patient (as illustrated). The BiPAP machine helps push air and oxygen into the lungs and then helps to hold the lungs inflated, thereby allowing more oxygen to enter the lungs.
