Intensive Care Guidelines

The NSW Intensive Care Coordination and Monitoring Unit (ICCMU) considers promotion and dissemination of evidence-based practice as core business and seeks to achieve this through clinical networking and a collaborative framework.

Introduction

  • The central purpose of these pages is to share clinical practice guidelines, facilitating a collaborative network across the Intensive Care units of NSW.
  • You will find a wide range of clinical practice guidelines stored here. This includes policies, protoccols, procedures and guidelines from ICUs across NSW.

Statewide Guidelines - Intensive Care Collaborative Project (free access)

  • At this time these pages describe the progress of the Intensive Care Collaborative project. This project will be completed by November 2007.

  • In this section the clinical guidelines from NSW intensive care units have been organised alphabetically.
  • As username and password can be obtained from the clinical project officer or ICCMU.

Which intensive care units have made guidelines available?

  • All intensive care units have agreed in principle to share their guidelines. At this time there are guidelines from seven units and two area health services. See the table below.
  • Access to the guidelines has been granted under the following conditions:
    • Individual units accept no responsibility for how its guideline might apply to a third party unit;
    • Individuals who use these policies to develop site specific guidelines must reference the source (eg Name of guideline, Name of hospital, Accessed from ICCMU website on XXX date).

  • These links are provided as a resource NOT a recommendation.
  • Prior to inclusion on this page each guideline is checked for:
    • Reputable source
    • Evidence of Systematic Review including bibliographic details, levels of evidence and process used
    • Guideline development team representative of user group.
    • Sufficient informaton (or access to it) for an individual user to make an informed decision.
